It's International Women's Day 2022 on 8th March and the focus this year is Break The Bias.
Have you read the official messaging for this year's campaign? Here it is in case you haven't:
It's a powerful message and one that we're completely behind and are proud to back, here at Hand on Heart.
Our business is 100% female – a woman (our managing director, Amanda Dixon) created it, and it's an all-women team running the business. Although this is entirely by chance, as it just happens that no men currently work at Hand on Heart, we're of course, incredibly proud of the women behind the brand.
Let's take a closer look at International Women's Day…
What is International Women's Day?
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.
When is it?
International Women's Day takes place every year. This year, it's on Tuesday, 8th March.
Why is it important to us at Hand on Heart?
We believe in fostering a work environment that is free of bias. We'll be doing everything we can to help Break The Bias, on International Women's Day and every day. We're proud to show solidarity and support for the movement and to forge women's equality.
How: How can you support International Women's Day?
There are several ways you can lend your support. There are offline and virtual events you can attend to learn more. Or you can even organise one yourself, as there are resources on the website. There are also opportunities to submit your own image or video for potential inclusion on there too. For businesses, there are many opportunities for official project collaborations. If you would like to donate, IWD lists female-focused charities that you could potentially support. For more information about ways to get involved, take a look at the website: www.internationalwomensday.com
We sat down with our managing director, Amanda Dixon, to see what International Women's Day means to her. This is what she had to say…
Why is IWD so important to you at Hand on Heart?
As a female business owner, fostering a work environment that is diverse, inclusive, and free of bias is incredibly important to me. I believe that female entrepreneurs should be given every opportunity to realise their dream, just as I have been able to. I am truly lucky to have an amazing team of strong women at Hand on Heart Jewellery. Growing the company over the past 12 years has enabled me to offer opportunities for talented people who can grow with the company and develop careers in something they truly love.
