2009: Love at first sight
In 2008, inspired by the birth of her second child, Amanda wanted a unique piece of jewellery to symbolise her children. Unable to find the perfect piece, she turned to her sister Heather, a crafting enthusiast. By 2009, the very first 'Hand on Heart'—a simple heart pendant featuring the handprint of Amanda’s little boy was created. Instantly, Amanda knew that she had tapped into something very special
2010: Spinning around
Amanda’s home kitchen soon buzzed with creativity. The duo went beyond just handprints, crafting beautiful pieces that captured fingerprints, pawprints, loving handwritten notes, and even cherished drawings.
The next year and a half were a whirlwind. Spurred on by the interest of friends and family who wanted their own 'Hand on Hearts' making, the two sisters travelled to baby shows nationwide, showcasing their creations, and valuing every piece of feedback from attendees. Amanda turned the back of her home garage into a make-shift studio as the first orders started to roll in
2011: I believe in you
This stirred a deeper passion in Amanda. Having spent years working in close-knit, family-run enterprises and backed by her solid accounting foundation, she understood the transformative power of a small business. From a simple wish for a sentimental piece of jewellery, her ambition grew to shape a unique company. She poured her heart into her vision: a dual-focused mission to enrich the lives of customers as well as a dedicated team. As the digital age began to flourish, she began to devise a method for customers to order her unique jewellery from the comfort of their homes
2014: Come into my world
By 2014, the kitchen tales were tales no more, as Amanda's dream shifted to a purpose-built workspace, and she embarked on her mission to grow Hand on Heart into the company she dreamt of. She began by assembling a passionate team. Amanda believed a company should be more than just a job - it should be a purposeful sanctuary. Her goal was to shift the standard work perspective, making each role deeply impactful and meaningful. This wasn't about clocking in and out; it was about having a profound impact on people's lives. By the end of the year, she had 6 devoted employees (three of whom are still with the company today!), and the world at her feet
2015: I should be so lucky
In 2015 'This Morning' showcased Hand on Heart's Handwriting & Drawing Jewellery and the brand soared to new heights. Celebrities like Fearne Cotton and Stacey Solomon began donning HoH pieces, and Helen Skelton even visited the studio personally to get prints taken
2016: Turn it into love
Come 2016, Amanda's leadership had built a team of 15 passionate souls, all driven by the same vision. The company's success demanded even more space, leading to the move to their current studio—a haven where creativity and heart come together, the true heartbeat of Hand on Heart
2019: On a night like this
Amanda had made a vow to her team: HoH's 10-year mark would be celebrated in style! Living up to her promise, she threw a memorable party for the team and their loved ones. During this special time, the team also shared a heartfelt goodbye with Heather, who had remained a steadfast member of the team ever since Amanda took the helm in 2011
2020: Especially for you
During the global pandemic and midst global chaos, Amanda embraced new beginnings—introducing her third child and perfecting a technique to craft jewellery from ashes, addressing a heartfelt request from the Hand on Heart community and highlighting her dedication to her customers. It was during this time that she also forged a partnership with the children's grief charity, Grief Encounter
Today: je ne sais pas pourquoi (I still love you)
Today, Amanda continues to lead HoH from its beautiful Studio. With Hand on Heart crafting countless pieces yearly, her commitment to providing a purpose-driven and heartfelt workspace remains undiminished as she continues to build a company that affects the lives of many. Celebrating both the professional and personal milestones of her team, she stands as a beacon of dedication, while continuing her mission of ensuring that loved ones remain close to the heart
