Push Presents - they're more popular than you think!

Push Presents - they're more popular than you think!

'Push Presents' can be a little divisive, but there's no doubt that they've soared in popularity over recent years. Considered a modern way of saying 'congratulations,' push presents are a gift given to a woman after she's given birth (usually by their husband or partner, but they can also be from family or friends too!)

Celebrity push presents have been popular talking points recently. One that stands out for making headlines is Kylie Jenner's extravagant gift. Following the birth of their daughter, Stormi, Kylie's partner Travis Scott gifted her with a $1.4million Ferrari LaFerrari.

Of course, it’ll come as no surprise that the Kardashian sisters have all received lavish gifts as push presents. Kim Kardashian received a $1million Lorraine Schwartz choker from husband, Kanye West. At the time, Kim wrote on Instagram: "I like the idea of a push present—after nine months of pregnancy, it's a sweet and well-deserved thank you. We women go through an entire pregnancy carrying a baby…of course, it only makes sense that we get something amazing to show how amazing we are! LOL!"

Kim's sister Khloe was gifted a $40k pink diamond bracelet after giving birth to baby girl True, and Kourtney received a $100,000 Mercedes-Benz after she welcomed her third child with Scott Disick.

The Kardashians might be TV royalty, but what about actual royalty? Is there a push present fit for a future king? Well, we think this gift is absolutely adorable. When Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth to Prince George (third in line to the throne), her husband, Prince William, bought her and George a limited-edition teddy bear from Harrods.

It's worth bearing in mind, however, that the best push present is one that suits the taste and style of the new mother. It doesn't have to be extravagant or flash. We love that Helena Bonham Carter was gifted four pairs of biker boots by her partner, Tim Burton, on the birth of their daughter.

Singer Pink also received a present that was selected especially for her taste. After welcoming her son Jameson into the world with her husband, Carey Hart, Pink posted a photo on Instagram with a motorbike. She wrote: "Thanks @hartluck for the push present. I give you babies, and you build me motorcycles. Some girls like diamonds, I like heavy metal and carbon fibre and chrome."

Although biker boots and motorcycles were top of the wish-list for Helena Bonham Carter and Pink, stunning jewellery certainly seems to be a popular choice – and one loved by celebrities too.

While a super cute Harrods teddy bear was gifted to her after the birth of Prince George, Prince William treated Kate to a custom pair of earrings, designed by Kiki McDonough (thought to be Kate's favourite jeweller), to mark the birth of Princess Charlotte.

Shortly after Beyoncé welcomed her first child, Blue Ivy Carter, with her husband, Jay-Z, she was spotted with a huge blue ring on her finger. A lovely nod to her daughter's name, the blue ring reportedly cost $35,000.

We love that movie star Mila Kunis took this idea of jewellery to a different level and gave something back too. Rather than simply enjoying a push present from husband Ashton Kutcher, Mila created a motherhood ring in a collaboration with Italian jewellery designer, Marina B. The yellow-gold rings sold for $4,800, and all the money went towards maternal health in Zambia.

But being gifted a diamond ring wasn't such a lucky charm for actress Jennifer Garner. She revealed that after being given the push present from then-husband Ben Affleck, she accidentally dropped the very expensive piece of jewellery down the drain! Speaking at the time, she said: "The plumber had to come and dismantle the entire thing from under the house." Yikes! Luckily, he found it.

We think meaningful jewellery is a wonderful idea – not only is it a stunning keepsake that can be kept and treasure forever, but it can also be perfectly personalised, offering something unique to a new mum and marking the occasion of her new arrival in a truly beautiful way.

At Hand on Heart, we have a gorgeous selection of meaningful jewellery that make fabulous gifts for new mothers.

Push Present Necklace

Our engraved handprint or footprint heart necklace is a lovely way to mark the birth of a baby. The engraved necklace is created with sterling silver and is engraved with two prints, and one name on the front and a personalised message of your choice on the reverse. The charm size is approximately W20mm by H22mm and comes on a 16-18" adjustable belcher chain.

We've tried to make it as easy as possible for you to create this design – and you can either supply us with the hand or footprints that you may already have, or alternatively, you can request a free Magic Printing Kit when you order.

This necklace is from our engraved range, which means that the prints are engraved onto the charm's surface and come with a 12-month no-fade guarantee. It will arrive beautifully presented in a Hand on Heart jewellery box and delivered to your door – ready to gift that new mum with a present she will treasure forever.

Handprint Necklace

A similar option is our printed necklace (this is from our premium imprint range which means that the prints are imprinted into the silver rather than engraved onto the surface. This design comes with a lifetime no-fade guarantee ensuring that your piece will last a lifetime if looked after).

Or, if your partner or loved one prefers bracelets to necklaces, we have a few gorgeous options that she'll love too.

Push Present Handprint BraceletA stunning handprint or footprint silver bead bracelet is a beautiful gift for a new mother. Created from sterling silver, the front of the heart charm is engraved with a print, and the reverse can be engraved with a short, personalised message. The charm size is approximately W16mm by H19mm, and the bracelet is a 17cm (approximately) stretchy bracelet.

Like the necklaces above, you can either supply us with prints you may already have, or you can request a free Magic Printing Kit when you order. This bracelet is from our engraved range, which means that the prints are engraved onto the charm's surface and come with a 12-month no-fade guarantee.

Handprint Bead Bracelet Push Present

A good option if she already has a bracelet that she loves is an engraved heart charm bead. This stunning keepsake is made using your loved one's hand or footprint and name – and it's compatible with popular bracelets from Pandora, Chamilia, Troll and Lovelinks, so she can easily add it to her existing charm collection.

The charm itself is created using beautiful sterling silver, and one side is engraved with a hand or footprint, while the reverse of the charm is engraved with a name of your choice. The charm size is approximately 10mm by 10mm. As with all our engraved products, the prints are engraved onto the surface of the charm, and the piece comes with a 12-month no-fade guarantee.

Push Present Gift Pack

But what if you can't decide? It's completely understandable if you're not sure. After all, life gets pretty busy when you have a newborn baby to look after! If this is the case, we've got you covered. You can simply order our special edition starter pack and take the prints before choosing your piece of jewellery. These packs on their own also make a lovely gift for new parents too.

Each starter kit comes in a luxury Hand on Heart gift box and includes two of our Magic Printing Kits to take handprints, footprints or pawprints for any baby, child, pet, or adult.

The kit comes with:

  • 1 x luxury Hand on Heart two-part presentation gift box
  • 2 x magic handprint/footprint wipes
  • 2 x pieces of magic card
  • Full instructions on how to take the perfect prints

It's possible to create approximately eight baby-sized prints with one single wipe and card – and these kits are the perfect way to take prints to put in a Baby Book, or even frame as a reminder of how tiny they once were! You can also use the kits to take prints from older children and adults. However, you will not be able to achieve quite as many prints with larger print sizes.

The prints will be suitable for any of our jewellery designs (available to purchase separately) – all we will need is a photograph of the print you would like to use.

We understand push presents can be a little divisive. But love them or hate them, there's no doubt they're growing in popularity! However, they don't need to be as extravagant as they are in the world of celebrities. They can be something as simple as a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates to show her that you're thinking of her.

We hope this blog served as inspiration for some lovely push presents. If meaningful jewellery is what you think she'll love, then our stunning selection is an incredibly popular choice with our customers to celebrate the birth of a beautiful new baby.
