Today, we’re sitting down for a chat with Jess Pool, our senior studio operator.
Jess is our senior studio operator and is trained in all production areas. Her day-to-day job is to create our engraved and imprinted ranges of jewellery throughout each stage, including editing artwork, packing, assisting with training, and completing production procedures. Jess is also responsible for ensuring that all our ‘how to’ guides are up to date for new starters. Jess has been a fixture at Hand on Heart for five years. Before joining us, she studied textiles with surface design at university and went on to intern in a print studio and create accessories for a bridal company, alongside retail roles.
Jess, what’s your favourite part of your role at Hand on Heart?
Knowing that each piece we make has a story behind it and is so meaningful to every customer.
Do you have a favourite task as part of your job?
I enjoy creating and testing procedures for new products.
Has any customer feedback or reviews of Hand on Heart really stuck out as being memorable for you?
I remember seeing feedback from a big memorial order we sent out and being touched by how much those pieces meant to so many people.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Watching live music, running and hiking. Or just being at home, reading with my cat!
What’s your favourite thing about living and working in the Lake District?
Having the lakes and fells right on your doorstep, especially in summer.
Do you have a favourite Hand on Heart piece of jewellery? If so, what is it and why?
My favourite piece is the Memorial Round Charm Bead. I like how dainty the product is and how detailed but delicate the print is.
If you had to sum up your job at Hand on Heart in three words, what would you say?
Unique, creative and dusty!
